Hi, my name is Daniel Fiddler. I am an artist and designer based in Chicago.

HOW I GOT STARTED

My career as a graphic artist began in high school when I formed my first band. I designed all of our flyers, merch, and album covers. By college, I started doing the same for bands across the Chicago music scene.

For nearly a decade, art and design was simply a hobby of passion.

I made my living waiting tables; doing construction; and working on various production crews—all while pursuing art and design on the side. What started as a fascination with vintage design has developed into a full blown obsession with historical design, mainly Victorian, Art Deco, and the Atomic Era. I’ve been fortunate to develop a likeminded clientele.

A BIT ABOUT ME

My affinity for vintage graphics can be traced back to my childhood. Just as my own work is filtered through the nostalgia of my own upbringing, so too was the work of the artists I admired as a kid. Growing up in the ‘90s, I watched shows like Batman: The Animated Series, which was an Art Deco homage to Max Flesicher's Superman cartoons of the 1940's; or Ren and Stimpy which was like some psychedelic mid-century modern fever dream. These early influences would eventually blossom into a lifelong deep-dive into the history of art and design.

I'm a total sucker for greasy spoon diners, bowling alleys, and old theater lobbies.

These days, I can be found rummaging through junk shops and comic book stores or wheeling around town in my woody wagon. I play music in several groups including a New Orleans rhythm and blues band and an 11-piece 1950s rock and roll band.
